Heroes Behind the Uniform - Calgary Family Photography

This session is particularly special to me - not only was the family fun to work with and the weather absolutely beautiful, but they are another military family. I met Lisa at work and it was not long after that we found out that we had something very meaningful in common. As many of you know, my husband and I went through deployment not even a year ago as he served a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Well - Lisa's son Jeff is another hero behind a uniform and this brave young man is deploying in June to serve our country. There is something very humbling about meeting members of our Canadian Armed Forces and their families because these are the people that stand up for our country and the people that stand proudly behind them. Jeff - we will be praying for you everyday until you return home safely and we thank-you for your service. God bless you.

The Memory Project - Calgary Event Photography

On March 3, 2011, the Military Museums hosted an event for the Memory Project Speaker's Bureau - a project that connects veterans and Canadian Forces personnel with thousands of schools and community groups across the country. What a powerful way to give voice to the stories of so many of our country's bravest men and women.

Andrew & Natasha - Edmonton Couples Photography

For all those military girlfriends and spouses who know what it's like to say that half their heart is deployed, here's a handful of pictures of a couple who's love spanned the distance and only grew stronger over a six month deployment. Welcome home from Afghanistan Andrew!

Matthew & Mariah - Calgary Wedding Photography

I met Mariah through a Deployment Support Group for military spouses and quickly heard of the man who stole her heart, Matthew. He deployed with the Edmonton soldiers in September of 2009 and they got married just over a month after he returned in June. Congratulations you two!

If something is worth doing - do it with all your heart.

Michael & Jacquelyn - Edmonton Engagement Photography

I met Michael, a friend of my husband's shortly after my husband deployed to Afghanistan; he was one of the many soldiers that geared up and got excited to go on tour and were stood down when the time came to go. With his disappointment about not going on tour, we would often talk about how things happen for a reason and sure enough, he soon found out why he didn't deploy that fall as he met the love of his life, Jacquelyn, just months later.
